The specialization track in Financial Management is offered by the Department of Finance and Accounting (F&A) at the University of Twente. The department assigns high priority to performing scientific research related to the financial policies of organizations. The variety of research undertaken within the department relates to such topics as corporate finance, entrepreneurial finance, corporate governance, financial risk management and corporate social responsibility. The department’s research corresponds to the broad mission of business administration at the University of Twente: to understand, educate and support value creation among knowledge-intensive businesses by integrating a high-tech environment with human talent (High TECH HUMAN Touch). In this way, the department helps to make organizations more innovative and entrepreneurial, such that they can achieve substantial increases in their productivity, efficiency and performance.
The department’s research focuses on established firms and technology-based businesses, including start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises operating primarily in the manufacturing, energy, health and financial sectors. Research projects relate to the entrepreneurial and innovative practices of firms, as well as to the focal areas of the University of Twente. The department regularly engages in collaboration with researchers from other universities/countries, and it aims for joint research collaboration with international partners and industrial actors.
