Are you an upcoming, international student and is your secondary education not comparable to the Dutch VWO-diploma? However, you would like to take this programme? University of Twente offers you the possibility to take a foundation year after which you will be admissible.
You also need a high level of English proficiency, as this programme is entirely English-taught. Check the language requirements.
You will be admitted to the Bachelor's programme if you possess a Dutch vwo-diploma with the profile:
- Natuur & Techniek
- Natuur & Gezondheid together with 'Wiskunde B' (advanced mathematics) and 'Natuurkunde' (physics)
- Other profile, as long as it includes 'Wiskunde B' (advanced mathematics), 'Natuurkunde' (physics) and 'Scheikunde' (chemistry).
Dutch propedeuse/diploma at a Dutch University of Applied Sciences
If you have successfully completed your first year of studies in a relevant subject at a university of applied sciences (Dutch Hoger Beroepsonderwijs, hbo), the University of Twente has to review your application first. We will check whether your educational background fits well with this study programme.
Have you already completed a Bachelor's degree at a Dutch university of applied sciences? Find out more about the possibilities and conditions for admission with an hbo-diploma to one of our Master's programmes.
Level of English
As the programme is entirely English-taught, you have to meet the English language requirement. You need to upload the required documents as proof of your English language proficiency, before the application deadline. If you are an international student, you can check the language requirement on our webpage.
If you hold a Dutch VWO-diploma, then you meet the language proficiency requirements.
Questions regarding this study or its admission requirements?
Good knowledge of exact science subjects
Mathematics is the language of engineers. Our experience shows that students who are good at exact sciences, like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (with grades 7 or higher), have a greater chance of success in the Chemical Science & Engineering (CSE) programme than those who have difficulty with these subjects. This does not mean that you are not allowed to register if your science grades are below 7, but please keep in mind that CSE is a challenging course, certainly in the area of the sciences.
You can sign up from October onwards.
