With the International Baccalaureate diploma you will probably be admissible to a Bachelor's programme of the University. This depends on the subjects and levels you have achieved. A succesfully completed International Baccalaureate diploma is required before the start of the academic year.
Note: the admission office reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the admissibility of your application. The admission requirements mentioned are for your information only.
You can always apply, even when you still have to pass your final International Baccalaureate exams. Please upload the predicted grades within your application and upload your most recent transcript of records. After the admission procedure has completed the University of Twente will ask you to send certified photocopies, required for enrolment. However, International Baccalaureate students can request their transcript(s) and certificate(s) online via the International Baccalaureate website. The IB provides an official transcript of grades for the Diploma Programme (DP). It is an official copy of an IB candidate’s results. Transcripts can be sent directly to an institute of higher education, such as our university. These documents are not sent to students or other organisations. At the International Baccalaureate webite you can find more information about how to request for a transcript.
There are several options to meet the English language requirement:
- If your instruction language during your two year International Baccalaureate Diploma programme is English and you have one of the English exam subjects you are exempted from the English language test. During you application you need to upload proof that your IB Diploma programme instruction language is English.
- If your instruction language is English but you do not have an English exam subject, you have to take an additional English language test as mentioned in our general language requirements.
- If your instruction language is not English and you do not have an English exam subject, you have to take an additional English language test as mentioned in our general language requirements.
- If the instruction language during your two year International Baccalaureate Diploma programme is not English you can still get an excemption if you pass with an grade 5 or higher for one of the English courses. If you do not meet the grade 5 requirement you need to do an additional English language test which is mentioned in our general language requirements. We advice you to do the English language test if you have doubts about your final English language grade.
If you do not have the required subject or level you can do an additional test(s). The University of Twente only accepts certificates from CCVX, James Boswell or the Dutch so called 'Officieel Staatsexamen'. The test must be passed with a 6 or higher and have to be taken before the start of the academic year (1 September).
For the subject Mathematical Studies or Mathematics Standard Level you have to take the VWO Mathematics A exam. For the subject Mathematics Higher Level you need to take VWO Mathematics B exam. For the subjects Physics, Chemistry and/or Biology you have to take the VWO Level, there are no sublevels like Mathematics.
