This three-hour workshop shows you how to communicate academic research in a popularised journalistic style for news articles, press releases or blog posts. The process you learn also helps develop writing skills more generally. 

CONTENT

Frank Nuijens has more than 25 years of experience as a professional in science communication and more than 15 years as a trainer of science communication skills. In this course, Frank will help you learn to communicating complex ideas effectively in writing.

You will learn various techniques used to present scientific knowledge and insights in a widely understandable form.  This includes learning how to: collect, select, structure and formulate complex information; and how to structure writing with a five-step writing process. 

Preparation: During this workshop you will work on your own article. So think about a topic that you want to practise with. Ideally it would be your bachelor or master project, but you can choose a hobby topic. As long as you have enough background knowledge about the topic and are passionate about it!

This workshop consists of one evening session of three hours.
