“Integrated water management is a new policy area for emerging economies in countries such as Brazil, India and Romania. Since these countries are only just beginning to explore the wide range of different choices, they are looking to take their lead from the best examples around the globe. And the Netherlands leads the way in the field of water management," says Arjen Hoekstra. The university in Romania contacted Prof. Hoekstra for further information on this field of research. This led to two Romanian PhD students being invited to conduct their research at the University of Twente, which caught the avid interest of Prof. Carmen Teodosiu.
