Research Themes
Bionanotech & Advanced Biomanufacturing
At this track we develop technologies that restore the function of diseased organs and damaged tissues such as bone, cartilage and blood vessels. Our clear insights into the way clinics treat their patients, support our work of developing practically applicable scientific breakthroughs. In this way, we speed up patient recovery.
Imaging & Diagnostics
In our I&D programme, we picture and interpret the processes in cells and organisms. The techniques that we developed to image a patient’s body, are based on acoustics, photo-acoustics, ultrasound and biomagnetism. Not only are our new methods extremely clear and exact, they also reduce the burden to the body significantly, as operations and injections are no longer required.
Neural & Motor Systems
The research track of N&MS examines the interplay between brain, nerves, muscles and the skeleton. Our work focuses on the actual restoration of function of the nervous and motor systems. Often, we are driven by specific clinical questions from healthcare. We act on the different anatomic levels, ranging from cells and tissues to the complete organism and aim to develop novel equipments.
