Unishare

UniShare is a Content Collaboration Platform (CCP) for storing and sharing research data and for collaboration. The on-premise data is stored in the UT data centres. The service can easily be used by both internal and external users. UniShare can be used for processing large data volumes.

Specifications

  • Uses NextCloud technology. A frontend for our storage clusters to ensure data can be easily accessed and used via the Web, clients and mobile devices;
  • Offers options for online joint editing. Supports all major file formats of documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Uses a storage cluster where the data between both UT data centres is synchronised asynchronously. Should one of these data centres go down, the other data centre has to be selected manually. The service will then not be available for some time. The storage cluster is ISO 27001 and NEN 7510 certified. The storage cluster uses many disks and offers high data storage capacity;
  • Includes antivirus defences, ransomware protection and backups;
  • Large data areas is possible;
  • Files can be recovered (recycle bin) and previous versions can be restored; for more detailed information see https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/latest/user_manual/en/files/version_control.html.
  • Can be used offline;
  • Suitable as a tool for collaborating with external parties (non-UT). People can be invited to collaborate using Surf Research Access Management (SRAM);
  • eduVPN is not required.

    UniShare is a Content Collaboration Platform (CCP) for storing and sharing research data and for collaboration. The on-premise data is stored in the UT data centres. The service can easily be used by both internal and external users. UniShare can be used for processing large data volumes.

    The Unishare research group can be requested by the responsible coordinator of a research group through the LISA account management. The coordinator specifies who they want to invite (this can be done in SRAM), and the researchers receive an email notification about it.

    The Unishare research group is a valuable tool that enables efficient collaboration and information sharing among research groups. The application process is simple: the responsible coordinator indicates the individuals they wish to invite, which can be done through the SRAM platform. Once the invitations have been sent, the researchers are notified via email. This allows them to access the Unishare environment and participate in the collaboration within the research group. The ease and effectiveness of Unishare make it a valuable resource for researchers, facilitating seamless communication and information exchange, thereby contributing to the advancement of research.
