An evaluation aims to look critically at the teaching and check whether everything contributed to the student's learning and development.
Evaluating teaching is important because it gives the lecturer information about how the students experienced the course. You can think about the organisation (was the timetable available on time?), the teaching (was the teacher's explanation clear?), the test (was it tested what the students expected?) etc.
Based on this information, the teacher can decide to do things differently next time.
Quality assurance
Quality assurance is arranged per faculty:
Midterm ITK (univerity level)
On university level we like to know if we provide qualty in our Education. Through the midterm evaluation we want to learn about our current quality structure. Our question is: Is our quality assurance system, with the informal elements we have, robust enough to ensure that our programmes meet the NVAO-criteria and that our institution sustainably works towards development and improving our education? More information is on the Midterm ITK website.
Accreditation (programme LEvel)
Accreditation is a form of external quality assurance (and improvement) of an programme. The Self Evaluation Portfolio plus the visitation constitute the bridge between internal and external quality assurance (and improvement). In the Netherlands, accreditation is mandatory for degree programmes in Higher Education (HE). More information is on the accreditation website.
Evaluation (course level)
Every teachers wants to know what the students think of an course, therefor you can do an evaluation on course level. But were to start? And how the procede? On the Learning and Teaching Portal you van find information about the way of evaluating the programme.
