To support effective communication in the event of a crisis, there are four crisiscommunication advisers. In case of a UT-wide crisis situation, all external communication will be handled by the university spokesperson.
Depending on the nature of the crisis, such as a fire, an accident, or the death of a member of our community, there are protocols in place. These plans outlines the communication strategy and provides guidelines for both online and offline communication, as well as monitoring. It forms part of the UT's crisis plan and is available to all members of the crisis teams.

UT crisis organisation
Human Resources has drawn up a UT-wide crisis plan for large-scale calamities, such as a fire, an explosion or a bacterial infection, which is in line with the City of Enschede emergency plan. Because communication is very important during a crisis, the Marketing Communications department (MC) has drawn up an extra crisis communication plan. Notification in case of a large-scale calamity | |
| • Check the notifications via www.utwente.nl, employees.utwente.nl and utwente.nl/students. • In case of a big crisis the local government security services such as the police, the fire brigade and medical assistance will take over command and communication. The UT website administrators will check the reliable sources as well as possible and will share their findings. |
