- Non-smoking policyThe UT committed to the health and sustainable employability of its students and staff and wants to offer them a healthy learning and working environment. Therefore, the entire campus of UT, excluding the residential area, is smoke-free. UT partner of foundation 'Gezondheidsfondsen voor Rookvrij' The University of Twente joined the foundation 'Gezondheidsfondsen voor Rookvrij' (in Dutch). As a partner of this foundation UT works towards a non-smoking generation. In addition to UT's decision to have a smoke-free campus (excluding the residential area), smoking on educational institution grounds is prohibited by law. This also applies to e-cigarettes. This measure fits in with the increased technical-medical character of the UT and it is supported by Tobacco and Smoking Materials Act (previously the Tobacco Act), which prohibits smoking on the premises of educational institutions. - Protocol parties and activitiesThe UT campus has good facilities for celebrations and events. To ensure safety and compliance with environmental regulations, such events must meet particular conditions. This protocol specifies the actions required when a celebration or event is organised on campus. Conditions In the environmental permit, the municipality grants the UT permission to organise 12 events on the campus every year, for which less restrictive noise standards apply. These events are organised by or in consultation with the Events Office. For all other celebrations and events, no sound may be audible outside the campus. If you want to organise a celebration or event at one of the education buildings outside the official opening hours, this must be reported to the Events Office. - Roof protocol / roof workThere is a significant risk of falling when working on roofs. The policy of the University of Twente aims to enable people to work safely. All roofs of the UT have been examined for risks and, where necessary, equipped with fall protection systems to improve people’s safety when working on roofs. However, clear agreements and procedures must be followed to ensure that it remains safe to work on roofs. Rules for accessing roofs of UT Buildings The following rules apply to accessing roofs: Only qualified and SCC-certified (Safety Checklist Contractors) personnel may access roofs of UT buildings.
