Get in touch with a student of this Master's

Are you up for a challenge? Broaden your horizons by pursuing an additional degree alongside your Master’s!

As a student at the University of Twente, you have a lot of opportunities to expand your knowledge beyond your Master’s. If you want to acquire multidisciplinary skills and knowledge to respond to societal challenges even more effectively, you can pursue a double degree.

Double degree

To gain a competitive edge in the job market, combining knowledge and skills in marketing management, corporate communication, branding, and entrepreneurship, you can extend your Master’s in Communication Science with a Master’s in Business Administration.

You will complete this double degree in just a year and a half instead of two years if you pursue each master’s separately. You need to be eligible for both Master's, so check the admission requirements of both programmes.

Master honours programme

Excellent students can take part in one of our Master Honours Programmes: an extracurricular programme of 15 EC. You get the opportunity to enrich your knowledge, skills, and experiences beyond your discipline. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate and an Honours Pin.

Workload

The Master Honours is an extracurricular programme and not an individual study programme. This means it is an addition to your Master’s and it increases your regular study load. The Honours Programme comprises 15 EC, so you spend an extra ten to fourteen hours a week studying

We advise you to wait for a few months at the start of your Master's before applying for a Master's Honours Programme. That way, you can better assess if it is feasible for you. You can discuss this option with your study adviser.

Honours programmes are for Master's students who are among the top 10% of their class. If you decide to apply, there is a selection procedure in place.

Master-Insert 'Shaping Responsible Futures'

Do you ever wonder what your job will look like 10 years from now, or do you dream about a climate-proof world? Do you have the ambition to get out of your comfort zone and make a social impact? The University of Twente offers you the opportunity to add the Transdisciplinary Master-Insert to your Master's. This is a full-time study programme of six months (30 EC) during which you put your regular Master's on hold for half a year.

You can also incorporate the Master-Insert into your Master’s through packages of 10 or 20 EC. In some cases, you can even use (some of) your elective space to take courses from the Master-Insert as long as this complies with your Master’s.

In the Master-Insert, you will think of solutions to complex societal challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. You will engage in transdisciplinary research together with curious, passionate, and inspiring students and academics from various departments of the university. You will join a unique learning community that makes you an accomplished and confident change-maker.

Study duration and costs

Keep in mind that adding the Master-Insert to your Master’s has consequences for the duration and costs of your studies. Scholarships don’t cover this extension of your Master’s.

The Master-Insert is open to all enrolled Master’s students at UT. However, admission is based on your motivation. Upon successful completion of the full programme, you will receive a certificate in Shaping Responsible Futures.
