Change is a constant within our university. Whether it concerns implementing a new system, new ways of working, organisational development or a reorganisation, effective communication is essential. However, implementing any change requires more than simply informing people.
Informing is about sending messages: what is changing and when? Change communication is about creating meaning: what is happening, what does this change mean for me and my team, and what can I do? This meaning does not emerge from an email or news item, but through interaction. To truly make an impact during change, an interactive mix of communication channels is therefore crucial.
LEADERSHIP COMMUNICATION
Within the UT, leaders play a key role in organisational change. As a leader, you can work with your team to connect organisational goals to daily practice and make change tangible. In this way, effective leadership communication contributes to trust, engagement and successful change.
Advice and support
Change initiatives vary in scale, impact, stakeholder involvement and complexity, that is why a fully standardised communication approach is not always possible. To support you we have a range of practical training courses and tools available. If you require tailored advice for your specific situation, please contact the communication adviser of your unit.
