Eduroam (education roaming) enables students, researchers and other members of staff to use their education or research institute’s wireless (wifi) network in a safe manner. In addition, using their own login codes, eduroam enables them to use other education or research institutes’ eduroam networks in the Netherlands and abroad without any problems. - Guest network 'Enschede Stad van nu'The campus offers a free internet service for visitors. Select the WLAN network 'Enschede Stad van nu' and open your browser. First you will see a page on which you will be requested to accept the conditions for the use of wireless internet. (Small button at the bottom of the page!)
- Wireless network 'UThings' for smart devicesShort link for this page: utwente.nl/uthings. A separate wireless network has been set up specifically for Smart Devices and Internet of Things applications: "UThings". The preferred network for wireless connections is eduroam, but there are devices that cannot connect because of the security settings. For the average "smart refrigerator" it is usually impossible to connect to a WPA2-Enterprise protected wireless network. Access to the UThings network is provided on a per-device basis. You can register the devices you want to connect by contacting the ICT Service Desk (employees can use this form). You need to provide the wireless MAC address of your device. The ICT Service Desk can be contacted by email at servicedesk-ict@utwente.nl or by telephone at (+31 53 489) 5577. Technical information Devices on UThings are given a publicly accessible IP address. By default we provide firewalling of inbound communications to your device as it is generally not recommended for Smart/IoT devices to be reachable directly from
