WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO LEAD AN ACTIVE STUDENT LIFE BY BECOMING A MEMBER OF THE STUDY ASSOCIATION.
The University of Twente is home to three dedicated study associations that represent the interests of students in our fields: E.T.S.V. Scintilla (Electrical Engineering), S.A. Astatine (Advanced Technology), and W.S.G. Isaac Newton (Mechanical Engineering). While each has its own unique history and traditions, their shared goal is to support the academic success and personal growth of every student in their respective Bachelor’s and Master’s programs.
Scintilla takes care of the educational affairs related to Robotics. However, a combined committee with members from Scintilla, Isaac Newton, and Astatine also gathers input and suggestions from Robotics students and organises social activities.
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
The study associations organise a wide range of activities designed to support, expand, and complement your career development. Whether you are looking for academic support or a break from your books, there is always something happening. Members benefit from:
- Educational Support: Study evenings, tutoring, and textbook discounts.
- Career Building: Lunch lectures, company visits, and symposia to connect you with industry leaders.
- Social Events: International study trips, parties, excursions, and sporting events.
COMMUNITY
At their core, these associations provide a "home away from home." Each association has its own dedicated room where you can drop by at any time for free coffee or tea, relax on the couches, and meet fellow students between lectures. The boards of Scintilla, Astatine, and Isaac Newton are always available to help you with any questions regarding your studies or student life.
DEVELOP YOUR ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT
At UT, we train you to be the global citizen of tomorrow. Education alone is not enough, being active both in and outside of the classroom boosts your personal development. Our students regularly organise exciting activities and events on campus and in the nearby city of Enschede. They learn to collaborate with students and professionals from other disciplines and from different backgrounds. These experiences are invaluable in helping students develop useful skills that will serve them well in their future careers.
