Master's application deadlines

Start your application for a master's

Find out when applications close and make sure to submit on time.

Application deadlines are based on your nationality. Your current nationality is leading, even if you have a Dutch or European residence permit. For example: if you have a Mexican nationality and hold a Dutch residence permit, your nationality is Mexican (not Dutch).

Start

February or September intake?

All (pre-)master's have an intake of 1 September, which means the academic year starts on 1 September. Your first day of class is often on another day. For some (pre-)master's - and also for specialisations within the master's - you can start in February. Check the website of the master's of your interest whether the pre-master’s or master's specialisation starts in September and/or in February.

Documents and nationality

You should be able to provide valid (not expired) identity documents for each nationality to be registered within our system. If you have multiple nationalities, use the most beneficial nationality as your first nationality to determine your application deadline and tuition fees. To check if your nationality qualifies as EEA or non-EEA (visa required), visit the Dutch government website.

Still need to graduate? Even if you have not yet graduated, you can still apply at any time. However, you need to graduate before the start of the academic year. Be sure to submit your application before the given application deadline. If you miss the deadline, you have to wait for the next intake period.

You application will only be reviewed once all requested documents are uploaded and submitted before the application deadline. Incomplete applications cannot be reviewed. For instance, if you have not yet taken your English language test, your application will not be considered.

Do I have to sign up for a pre-master's?

There's no need to apply for a pre-master's. You always enrol for the master's of your choice. Following your application, UT will assess it and let you know if you need to follow a pre-master first. After you have successfully completed the pre-master’s, i.e. obtained sufficient ECTS, you can continue with the master’s.
