  • What’s the difference between this course at the University of Twente and a similar course at a university of applied sciences?

    The academic skills you learn on the Bachelor’s at the University of Twente enable you to reach the required level to enter a university master’s. It prepares you for a job in which you will contribute to the development of the latest cutting-edge technological applications. Our practicals and projects turn students into real engineers, capable of solving problems independently by taking a pragmatic and structured approach, working efficiently and effectively with others. You’ll not only learn the right answer to a question, but get to grips with the why and how of electrical engineering.

  • What language will my books and course material be in?

    The programme is taught entirely in English. If your command of English is at pre-university high-school level (Dutch VWO or equivalent), you should be able to follow the programme without too many problems.

  • Where can I find information about the courses I will be taking?

  • How much money will I have to spend on books and course materials in my first year?

    You can expect to spend approximately €200 per quarter on books and specific equipment. In other words, about €800 in the first year.

  • Do I need a laptop?

    Yes, having your own laptop is essential. You will need it during almost all tutorials and practical classes, as well as for your project work.

  • What language will my classes be in?

    The programme is taught entirely in English. If your command of English is at pre-university high-school level (Dutch VWO or equivalent), you should be able to follow the programme without too many problems.

  • What kind of assistance is available to students?

    Obviously your lecturers will always be available as your first point of contact. Throughout your bachelor's you will also have a mentor, a member of the teaching staff for you to consult regarding all aspects of your study programme. In more exceptional circumstances or if you are encountering particular difficulties, you can turn to the study advisor.

  • Can I go abroad during my studies?

    Yes, we wholeheartedly encourage our students to spend part of their study programme abroad.

  • Are there any scholarships which I could apply for?

    Unfortunately, the University of Twente does not offer any scholarships for bachelor’s. However, some of our students apply to organisations in their home country for a scholarship to study Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente.

  • What is a study association?

    A study association is run for and by the students who are taking a particular bachelor’s or master’s. Scintilla is the Electrical Engineering association for bachelor’s students at the University of Twente. Many of Scintilla’s members are actively involved in its activities, which include educational matters, career orientation and a whole range of recreational events.   • How do I find housing in Enschede?

    Enschede is a student city, and housing either on-campus or off-campus is relatively easy to find. However, we recommend that you start looking in plenty of time. If you are a student from outside the Netherlands, the University of Twente’s International Office can help you find furnished accommodation.
