ProKnow, Production of Knowledge

The project ProKnow aims at analyzing the interactions between public research institutions and academic spin-offs in order to assess the impact of entrepreneurial activities on the academic research system. Recent research has pointed out that spin-off activities of public research institutions epitomize innovative forms of knowledge production. The project draws on these studies but takes a different approach compared to the studies concerned with the founding and prospering conditions for spin-offs. ProKnow shifts the focus back on public research institutions and studies the multiple impacts and consequences of entrepreneurial activities on public sector institutions. The effects of spin-offs on the orientation, positioning, and capacities of public research institutions are the main focus of investigation.
