A year of working on LGBTQ+ inclusion on campus Th!nk with Pride 2023, a year in review

What a year it has been! Throughout 2023, Th!nk with Pride has been working to make the UT a more inclusive and welcoming place for LGBTQ+ staff and students. Some of this work was behind the scenes, and some achievements were that long ago that one might forget. So, hereby our “year in review”, looking back at our achievements. Let’s be clear: we could not have done this with the support of our colleagues and community, thank you all!

Looking back also means looking forward, because there certainly is much more to do. What would you like to see, how can we make our campus more inclusive? And how can you contribute? Let us know!

Helping you and each other

We are also happy to announce our revamped Resources page! A page filled with resources on various topics, like pronouns, inclusive education, a list of all-gender toilets, and local queer communities. And something to be very proud of: the list of theses by our students that relate to queer themes, it’s a great and inspiring list.

If you miss any resources, let us know.

Who is Th!nk with Pride?

At the moment of writing, Th!nk with Pride has three organising members:

  • Tom Boogerd (he/him, Policy Advisor Research at BMS)
  • Tessa Dekkers (she/they, Assistant Professor at Psychology, Health and Technology, BMS)
  • Jan Behrens (she/they, Master student Health Psychology & Technology, BMS)

Earlier this year, Xin Ming (PhD at ELAN Teacher Development, BMS) and Anastasija Minina (master student Positive Clinical Psychology & Technology, BMS) were involved too. Even though BMS is heavily represented, Th!nk with Pride represents the UT at large, so feel welcome regardless of your faculty!

We could not have done all this work alone. Therefore, we want to take time for a special shout-out to the Trans/non-binary meeting group, Th!nk with Pride Saxion, the DE&I Team, the EQUITY group of P-NUT and the boards of J&SV Exaltio and S.V. Queer. Thank you so much for your inspiration and support.
