SIX UT PROJECTS RECEIVE MONEY FROM INCENTIVE FUND
16 July 2021 - A cycling course for international students, a performance about all-gender toilets and a specific study on feminism in cartography. These are three examples that feature in the six projects awarded funding from the Incentive Fund, aimed at improving diversity and inclusion within the UT community.
CONVERSATION ABOUT LGBTIQ+ COMMUNITY IS STILL NEEDED
11 March 2021 - ‘Th!nk with Pride’, the platform for LGBTQI+ employees at the UT, was founded one and a half year ago. Although it now has only one official member, timetabling officer Alex Jonkhart is proud of what the initiative has achieved so far. ‘I feel colleagues appreciate it, that it helps to create an environment where they feel at home.’
WE NEED TO BECOME AWARE OF INJUSTICE
21 January 2021 - ‘The main goal is to expand our knowledge on issues related to diversity and inclusion,’ say founders of UT initiative ‘Dialogical spaces for a diverse university’. They are organizing eight online sessions, with the first one held today, as well as producing a podcast series focused on diversity and inclusion at the UT.

29 September 2020 - ‘The acceptance of the LGBTIQ+ community is by no means a matter of fact', says Alex Jonkhart, UT'er and initiator of Th!ink with Pride. That is why the UT - together with Saxion and the ROC of Twente - will sign a declaration on 6 October in which they guarantee an inclusive and safe environment for the LGBTIQ+ community.
UT STARTS DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION OFFICE
26 May 2020 - The UT is planning to set up a central diversity and inclusion office for both students and employees. Starting in September, a diversity officer will be tasked to take the first steps to improve the university’s policy on diversity and inclusion.
NEW UT PLATFORM ‘PRIDE’ FOR LGBTIQ+ EMPLOYEES
26 September 2019 - The UT will have its own informal platform called ‘Th!nk with Pride’ for the LGBTIQ+ community, aimed at employees. The goal is to have periodical get-togethers. The first ‘Pride’ meeting will take place on the National Coming-Out Day on the 11th of October in the Ravelijn.
RAPID GROWTH MEMBERSHIP NUMBER OF PROUD EXALTIO
12 June 2019 - Exaltio, the student association for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders (LGBT+) in Enschede, experienced a substantial growth from 26 to 90 members this academic year. An active board, more marketing and new activities were the key to success.
UT STEPS TOWARDS BIGGER DIVERSITY
21 February 2019 - The UT strives to provide a diverse and inclusive working environment. As part of its diversity policy, the university has therefore introduced several measures including a ‘gender bias training’ and an ‘inclusive selection training’, both currently available to the Faculty Boards and selection committees.

10 October 2018 - The UT is participating in the national Coming Out Day for the first time tomorrow. UT Associate Professor Eric Louis is taking an initiative and will be raising a rainbow-colored flag on one of the prominent flag poles at the entrance tomorrow morning
