Searching for grants with Research Connect

ResearchConnect is a comprehensive funding opportunities database. Use this database to find your next funding possibility and stay up-to-date on your search directions.

The ResearchConnect database features an easy-to-use interface and powerful searching tool designed to assist you in your exploration for (research) funding. The tool interface and features can be customized for each researcher, depending for instance on research domain, interests and career stage.

We are all increasingly aware of the importance of knowing about new funding opportunities and this service provides researchers, students and staff with:

  • a searchable database of national, European and international funding opportunities;
  • news from the research world and funding bodies;
  • access to discussion forums.

UT access and account personalisation

To get acces to the full features and manage your searches more effectively, you need to log in the database via the University of Twente institutional membership and then, once entered, specify your personal settings. The instantiation of your personal account is free, done once and only takes a few minutes to complete. To do this, use a computer within the University of Twente network (on campus or with VPN). A personal account allows you to:

  • use the database anywhere with your computer, via UT secure log in;
  • save the results of your searches and re-run them;
  • store interesting funding opportunities, add notes and share information with colleagues;
  • create customized email alerts that will bring funding opportunities to your mailbox.

Press the lower button “Log in via my institution” and search for “Universiteit Twente” in the selection box. If necessary, authorize the login via Microsoft Authenticator, or an equivalent, usually used in other UT services where secure access is necessary.

You are now inside the platform. Take few more minutes to complete your preferences by clicking the top right icon in the blue bar, reflecting you "Personal account", which contains the options “Account details”, “Personalise content” and “News & bulletin alerts”.

Explore all features of the database by clicking the icon for "Page features". This will shortly show you what each tab or icon on the page can offer you to enhance your search and personalize your other settings.

Funding search

For an immediate search, enter your keywords in the search bar on top of the page and press "Search".

To set up a detailed funding search, use the “Search” tab on the top menu (blue bar), where you can specify your criteria and preferences (such as discipline, research activities, funding source, deadline). When you have made a selection you are happy with, click the ‘Search' button and the appropriate results will be displayed, or updated if you change search settings.

You can save your specific search by clicking on the button "Save search" on the right. Access your saved searches by clicking on the "folder" icon in the blue bar, next to your "Personal account" icon. Several options on receiving alerts based on your specified search are available in that menu as well.

Results of your search

Save, share or download a selection or all the results of your search by using the corresponding icons at the top in the page. To accomodate easy sharing with colleagues, it is possible to create a so-called report of you selected results. Under the "Download selected" icon you have access to several options for this. You can compile this report as a Word-file or Excel-file and choose the level of details on each result item.

News and alertS

You can receive periodic e-mail alerts on any of your saved searches (funding or news) by adding any funding search that you would like to be alerted to in your alerts profile. To activate this, set your preferences in your account through "News & bulletin alerts”.
