If you have a university of applied sciences (HBO) degree, you may be admitted to the Master’s of Science programme in Systems and Control. However you will first need to complete a six-month pre-Master’s programme before being admitted to the Master’s.
The pre-Master's programme is a transfer and bridging programme which will give you the knowledge and skills you need to embark on your Master's studies succesfully. Once you’ve completed the pre-Master's programme, you’ll be granted admission to the Master’s programme in Systems and Control.
The premaster’s programme is only available in the autumn semester, starting at the first of September. After finishing the pre-Master's programme you can start on the Master's as of the first of September or the first of February.
A pre-Master's programme for hbo-students contains 30 credits. This is a fulltime study programme of one semester and contains the following courses: mathematics (30 ECs), academic skills (4 ECs) and domain related courses (11 ECs).
You can expect to spend forty hours per week on the programme, which is divided into lectures (25%), tutorials (25%) and self-study (50%).
Calculus A (5 EC)
Calculus B (4 EC)
Computer Architecture (4 EC)
Linear Algebra A (3 EC)
Linear Systems (6 EC)
Control Engineering (4 EC)
Introduction to Technological Research (4 EC)
The Pre-Master's programme as well as the masterprogramme is taught entirely in English.
The pre-Master’s is designed not only to address any deficiencies in your prior knowledge, but it is also an efficient way to find out whether studying at a research university in the field of Systems and Control is right for you. To this end, a couple of rules apply:
- We ask you to fulfil the requirements of the pre-Master’s within one year. Since 30 credits is equivalent to half a year of full-time study, this should not pose a problem.
- You must also earn sufficient marks with a maximum of one re-sit per course. This means you need to take the pre-Master’s seriously.
You cannot expect to be successful in the pre-Master’s if you approach it half-heartedly: it is meant as a half-year, full-time programme of study.
If you will be eligible for admission to the pre-Master's programme in Systems and Control depends on your previous education. More information on admission.
