Research and practice on planning, collaboration, and capacity in elderly care

The VVT sector (nursing, care, and home care) faces major challenges in terms of staffing, capacity, and collaboration between healthcare organizations. During this symposium, CHOIR researchers and professionals from the field will come together to share knowledge and discuss current issues in healthcare logistics.

Through the projects TRIAS, Ontzorgen, and CARE-FLOW, we will explore how data and research can contribute to improved planning and organization of care in the VVT sector. The aim is to exchange experiences, build new connections, and collaborate on future research and innovation projects.

Project: CARE-FLOW

CARE-FLOW is a four-year Interreg VI project led by the University of Twente, aimed at improving cross-border collaboration in healthcare between the Netherlands and Germany. The goal is to develop intelligent, data-driven software solutions that streamline patient flows and optimize healthcare capacity in the region.

Project: TRIAS

The four-year Triple Access System Planning (TRIAS) project investigates strategies to enable more local and digital healthcare, with the aim of improving the organization, accessibility, and quality of care. TRIAS is one of two research projects funded by NWO under the Knowledge and Innovation Covenant (KIC) call ‘Mobility in a sustainable future’.

Project: Ontzorgen

The Ontzorgen research project focuses on addressing staffing shortages in healthcare by developing a regional logistics care ecosystem. Ontzorgen is a collaboration between CHOIR, Windesheim, TNO, Stichting Lucrum, several VVT institutions in Twente, and logistics partners. The project is co-funded by TKI-Dinalog and runs from 2024 to 2027.
