This year’s Well-being Weeks, spanning from the 3rd of June to the 21st, theme is ‘Stand Up!’

This means literally standing up and moving, inspired by recent insights into sitting behaviour. We connect this to the Well-Being survey, emphasising the importance of standing up for yourself. 'Stand up and feel the confidence to set your boundaries.'

  • MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI - Cholesterol, Glucose and Blood Pressure Measurement and Dietican Advice

    Date: 6 November, 7 November, 8 November, 9 November and 10 November 2023
    Time: 10.00 - 16.00
    Location: See below 

    With one finger prick, both your cholesterol and your glucose level are measured. Initially, you usually notice little of abnormalities in glucose and cholesterol levels, but these can eventually lead to chronic health problems. In addition, while waiting for the outcome of the cholesterol and glucose measurement, we measure your blood pressure.  

    Questions about the measurements or need advice? Dietician Marike ten Oever is present to explain the results and, where necessary, to answer questions or give advice. 

     Note: To avoid long waiting times, these measurements are only carried out on registration and will take 5 minutes (excluding the advice of the dietitian). For a good measurement, it is important that you come to the appointment relaxed, so make sure you do not have to rush.

  • TUE, WED - Guided Morning Meditation

    When we begin our day with a morning meditation, we give ourselves the best chance to feel fully aware, awake and alive before we "do" anything. By creating a regular morning routine, we cultivate peace of mind and happy relationships in which we are kinder and less judgmental of ourselves and others 

    Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. there is a day-start meditation in the Dojo at the Sports Centre. 

    Beginners and those who have been meditating for some time are welcome. On Tuesdays there is an opportunity (around 8:20) for sitting instruction. We will explore how to sit on a meditation cushion in a way that is comfortable for you. 

    On Fridays there is room for conversation after meditation. Meditation cushions are available in the dojo. Staff from the Department of Psychology, Health and Technology with experience in various streams (Mindfulness, Vipassana, Zen) of meditation will be guiding the session these mornings. If desired for the group in attendance, guided mediation may be offered.

  • TUE - Lifestyle Check

    Date: 7 November 2023

    What is your lifestyle?

    Make your own choices about lifestyle and decide what is important for you. The lifestyle check can flag up any possible health risks at an early stage. The check (60 minutes) takes place in the Sports Centre. The lifestyle check includes physical tests like blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol, 2 questionnaires and a consultation with the lifestyle coach about the results. Setting your own goals can help you to improve your lifestyle. If necessary, a follow-up can be planned. For more information check our website.

  • TUE - Workshop Meditation Dance

    In this fusion of movement and mindfulness, we'll show you how Open Floor dance can be your secret weapon for banishing those winter blues and cultivating a healthier, happier you.  

    In Open Floor we move mindfully and conscious. It’s an embodied movement and conscious dance practice. And (world) music is our guidance. Open Floor helps resourcing ourselves. We can use it to build resilience and capacity, creativity, emotional intelligence, connection with oneself and to others. The body has it’s knowledge and has it’s reasons. Open Floor is based on the heritage of Gabrielle Roth.  

    A form of more conscious and meditative movement and dance. Without specific choreography on my part. I guide you towards your own movement from within. Relaxing, refreshing, out of your head and into your body. Embodied movement increases your body awareness. An increasingly useful skill in times of an increasingly digital and technical world. And a quality that contributes to personal leadership.

These activities are aimed at enhancing your well-being, blending physical activity, healthy food, and relaxation, to ensure you maintain a healthy lifestyle during these colder seasons. Join us, along with your colleagues, to have a nice walk during your break looking after your well-being. Remember to sign up to guarantee that we have lunch ready for you! All lunch will be suitable for persons with a vegetarian diet.

    On the surface the sea is often turbulent, but when you descend deeper it can be surprisingly calm. Theater company Project Wildeman takes you on the waves of your thoughts and the silence of the deep sea captured in sound in DiepzeeKerk. 

    DiepzeeKerk is a meditative ritual full of electronic sounds, poetic texts and visualization assignments. Together with the other visitors, you sit in a circle in the middle of the church and descend to the deeper layers of your subconscious. To your own Deep Sea Church. What do you see there, what do you feel and what does it do to you to be surrounded by water? In a collective and personal experience, Project Wildeman lets you discover what still waters lie beneath your surface.

    This workshop offers a brief introduction to mindfulness. 

    Mindfulness is about consciously focusing your attention, learning to observe without judging and being more in the here and now.   • TUE, WED - Guided Morning Meditation

    When we begin our day with a morning meditation, we give ourselves the best chance to feel fully aware, awake and alive before we "do" anything. By creating a regular morning routine, we cultivate peace of mind and happy relationships in which we are kinder and less judgmental of ourselves and others 

    Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. there is a day-start meditation in the Dojo at the Sports Centre. 

    Beginners and those who have been meditating for some time are welcome. On Tuesdays there is an opportunity (around 8:20) for sitting instruction. We will explore how to sit on a meditation cushion in a way that is comfortable for you. 

    On Fridays there is room for conversation after meditation. Meditation cushions are available in the dojo. Staff from the Department of Psychology, Health and Technology with experience in various streams (Mindfulness, Vipassana, Zen) of meditation will be guiding the session these mornings. If desired for the group in attendance, guided mediation may be offered.  

    You do not have to sign up for the morning meditation; everyone is welcome!

    What is your lifestyle?

    Make your own choices about lifestyle and decide what is important for you. The lifestyle check can flag up any possible health risks at an early stage. The check (60 minutes) takes place in the Sports Centre. The lifestyle check includes physical tests like blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol, 2 questionnaires and a consultation with the lifestyle coach about the results. Setting your own goals can help you to improve your lifestyle. If necessary, a follow-up can be planned. For more information check our website.

    During our Well-being Weeks, we're organising 30-minute lunchtime walks to encourage exercise, enjoy the refreshing autumn and winter air, and engage in nice conversations. These activities are aimed at enhancing your well-being, blending physical activity, healthy food, and relaxation, to ensure you maintain a healthy lifestyle during these colder seasons. Join us, along with your colleagues, to have a nice walk during your break looking after your well-being. Remember to sign up to guarantee that we have lunch ready for you! All lunch will be suitable for persons with a vegetarian diet.

Veritas-Forum features a believer and a non-believer debating with each other and the audience. Dr Gert-Jan Segers was chairman of the ChristenUnie parliamentary party. Dr Marijke Schotanus-Dijkstra is a scientist at Psychology, Health and Technology (BMS, UT); she researches how to flourish in life.     Shortly about me: I'm Selene, half spanish/geman and graduated in psychology in 2019 at the University of Twente and give workshops since 2017. I wrote my master thesis about it and aim to conduct more research on laughter yoga soon.

    Towards the winter it is extra important to continue doing healthy activities. Walking is such a healthy activity. Walking sets you in motion not only physically but also mentally. A more positive feeling is the result!

    Would you like to experience walking with a coach for an hour together, during the Well-being Weeks?

    We are John Winter (HR professional) and Bea Krijgsveld (Sustainable Employability Advisor), as UT colleagues and certified (walking) coaches, we cordially invite you for a relaxing individual coach walk. Together we can, if you want, highlight a possible personal (work) issue while walking. Of course, everything that is discussed remains between us.

    Practical:

    • Registration per time slot
    • Starting location in consultation, adjustment of the route based on your mobility is always possible
    • Think of good walking shoes
    • If it rains, we discuss what to do
    • We have prior email contact for coordination with each other!
