You can arrange your payment tuition fees in Studielink. There are several ways in which you can pay the tuition and exam fees:
When you have arranged your payment method, but you want to change it, please fill out the Payment modification form below and hand it in at the desk of Student Services.
- Payment by (digital) authorisation in five instalments (not possible for pre-Master)
- Payment by (digital) authorisation in one instalment (only possible for September intake)
- Single transfer
- Exemption through certification tuition fees paid
Note: Dutch law requires non-EEA students to pay tuition fees beforehand at once, because of the visa process. During the visa process non-EEA student will be requested to transfer the tuition fee and prove the finances for living costs.

Changing payment method or bank account details
When you have already choosen a payment method and you do want to change it, or you want to change your bank account number, please download and fill out the Payment modification form below. You can hand it in at our Student Services desk.
1. Payment by (digital) authorisation in five instalments
Payment by authorisation in five instalments is only possible for everyone with a European IBAN. When debiting in five instalments the fees for the academic year 2021/2022 will be debited on:
- 30 September 2022
- 30 November 2022
- 31 January 2023
- 31 March 2023
- 31 May 2023

When you are starting in February 2023 with your Master programme, you only can pay in two installments instead of five installments.
Payment in instalments is not possible for premaster applications.
In Studielink it is possible to arrange the payment by authorisation of your tuition fee. To be able to use the digital authorisation you need to have a European IBAN connected to SEPA. In case someone else signs for the authorisation, this person has to have a European IBAN connected to SEPA.
If you meet the requirements necessary for paying your tuition fees by authorisation, but you are unable to use the digital authorisation in Studielink, contact Student Service. Please do not forget to mention your student number.
Alternative payment schedules will not be considered.
A student who is de-enrolled due to not paying the tuition fee in the previous academic year can no longer use the direct debit payment method. This applies to subsequent academic years as well.
2. Payment by (digital) authorisation in one instalment
Payment by authorisation in one instalment is only possible for everyone with a European IBAN connected to SEPA. When debiting at once the fee will be debited on 30 September 2022. No administration costs will be charged.
It is not possible to pay with an authorisation in one instalment when you do not start with your study from 1 September.
In Studielink it is possible to arrange the payment by authorisation of your tuition fee. To be able to use the digital authorisation you need to have a European IBAN connected to SEPA. In case someone else signs for the authorisation, this person has to have a European IBAN connected to SEPA and DigiD.
If you meet the requirements necessary for paying your tuition fees by authorisation, but you are unable to use the digital authorisation in Studielink, contact Student Service. Please do not forget to mention your student number.
Alternative payment schedules will not be considered.
3. Single transfer
In Studielink you can choose for a method of payment by ‘Other Method of Payment’. If you have chosen for a single transfer you have to transfer the complete amount in once to the University of Twente, stating your name, date of birth and student number.
The complete amount has to be transferred to IBAN NL33ABNA0405323972 before 31 August 2022. Please take a processing time of two weeks into account.
In case of an international transfer you need to mention the BIC-code: ABNANL2A.

It is not permissible to make up your own payment schedule!
4. Exemption through certification tuition fees paid
In Studielink you choose by method of payment for ‘Via institution of higher education’. If you are already enrolled as a student at a Dutch university or institute of higher vocational education, you can get, under certain conditions, an exemption or reduction of tuition fees at the University of Twente. You have to request an original certificate of tuition fees paid at the institute where you have paid the fees. Please include this original certificate when sending your enrolment form to the Central Student Administration.
