Expand your knowledge and skills in our double degree together with the University of Münster in Germany.

As a student of the Master’s in European Studies, you have the opportunity to follow a double degree programme, that we offer together with our partner university, the University of Münster in Germany. In this two-year programme, you will gain a deeper understanding of the political context of international public governance and combine this with a comparative approach, comparing the contexts of different Nation-States and understanding the challenges that lie within these differences. Upon completion, you will receive two Master’s degrees:

 Structure

The double degree programme starts in September and entails a total of two years (four semesters). You will spend your first semester at the University of Twente, then two semesters at the University of Münster. During the last semester, you will end your double degree programme by writing your master’s thesis. You will do this under the joint supervision of professors from both universities.

At the start of the second year, you have two options:

  • A combination of an internship and elective courses
  • Exchange programme with partner universities of the University of Münster.

You will spend the last semester this double degree programme on graduating by writing your master’s thesis. You will do this under the joint supervision of professors from both universities.

How to apply?

If you are interested in the double degree programme, start by applying for the Master’s in European Studies at UT (don’t forget to check the admission criteria!). There are no extra requirements for the double degree; once accepted into European Studies, you are eligible for the double degree in Comparative Public Governance. You can opt into the double degree during the first semester of your European Studies master’s.

Did you take a preliminary study in China, India or Vietnam?

Did you complete your previous degree in China, India, or Vietnam? The University of Münster requires a certificate from the German Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) in the respective country.
