  • On average around 50% of the students is female.

  • The bachelor's programme Industrial Design Engineering at the University of Twente is known for project education, the small-scale and because it is future-oriented.

  • The difference between Industrial Design Engineering at a university and at a university of applied sciences is mainly the level. The education at a university has more emphasis on academic research and the pace of teaching is higher. In addition, at a university, we teach you to think about the solutions you have found, with questions like why is this the best solution? Is there an alternative? Could it be better? More efficient?

  • The Bachelor’s programme Creative Technology equips you to use the latest smart technology for developing solutions that contributes to a better future for people and society. Computer science and electrical engineering are key during this programme. At Industrial Design Engineering the focus lies more on the technical (engineering) side, as well as creativity and sense of consumer behaviour to design or improve a product.

In short: the scientific basis for Creative Technology lies in computer science and for Industrial Design Engineering in mechanical engineering.

  • The programme contains specific Industrial Design Engineering courses, like Design Sketching, Design and Styling and Graphic Design, but of course there are also more technical courses, like Mechanics of Materials, Materials and Statistics.

  • Industrial Design Engineering is a technical Bachelor’s programme. Without mathematics, you will not be able to solve the problems you encounter during your studies. It is therefore a substantial part of the programme.

  • To find out more about the courses, please check out our study programme.

  • The programme is taught in English, and all the textbooks are in English. So good command of the English language is, therefore, necessary when you start studying. For more detailed information check the language requirements.
