Peter-Paul Verbeek of the Philosophy department has received one of the Vidi-subsidies for excellent research in this years’ call. With a budget of 600.000 € in 5 years, it is possible to develop a new research line.
Peter-Paul Verbeek will research the ‘boundaries of the human being’. Recent developments in bio-, nano-, and information technology pose the question where the boundaries of the human being’ are. Are traditional approaches still sufficient when human being and technology amalgamate? And which ethical framework can guide these developments?
In total 436 proposals for Vidi have been submitted at NWO, of which 83 were successful. The University of Twente has 5 Vidi-laureates within this call, Peter-Paul Verbeek being one of them.
