25 Apr 2016 - Vernieuwingsimpulse Information Meeting (Veni, Vidi, Vici) on July 1, 2016 On Friday 1 July NWO is organising an information meeting for researchers that want to apply for a Veni, Vidi or Vici grant. Practical information will be given and laureates, selection committee members and NWO coordinators will share their experiences. The morning programme is for the Humanities and Social Sciences and the afternoon programme is for the Natural Sciences, Engineering and Life Sciences. The meetings will be held in English. 22 Apr 2016 - What it takes to succeed in FET-Open.... FET-Open is an extremely popular programme. The number of applications has been continuously rising since the previously ICT-centered programme was opened to all disciplines in 2014 within the Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation programme. Now that all the proposals from the first truly open FET-Open call 2014/2015 have been evaluated, it is time to take stock. 22 Apr 2016 - High Tech Materials Call open! It addresses the priorities of the 21 Apr 2016 - Battle of the greenest campus dorm No less than 24 dorms on the campus of the University of Twente decided to join Sustainabattle: which one knows best how to save energy and shows true energy awareness? Energy consumption of all dorms will be shared online during the month of the competition, to make it even more exciting. Apart from lowest energy consumption, teams can also score points presenting sustainable plans for improving their dorm. Sustainabattle is one of the projects within the Living Smart Campus initiative. 21 Apr 2016 - Interrogation computers work ... if you believe they are human controlled Avatars can potentially make interrogations more efficient. However, a study by psychologists based at the Institute for Innovation and Governance Studies, a University of Twente research institute, shows that they are only effective if the subjects under interrogation believe that the avatar is under human control. The study was published in Frontiers in Psychology, an open access journal.  18 Apr 2016 - Moritz Müller received internet thesis award Last Friday, the award ceremony for the internet thesis awards organized by the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities will take place in Haarlem. Moritz Müller, a graduate of the EIT Digital Master’s programme in Security and Privacy, will receive the thesis award in the ‘Internet and Engineering Sciences’ category. Mr Müller studied at the University of Trento in Italy during the first year of his programme and completed his studies at the University of Twente. 15 Apr 2016 - News on ERC grants Please find below a summary of the current info on European Research Council (ERC) calls and preparation. Please distribute as appropriate, namely: 14 Apr 2016 - NWO-Call: Human Capital: Professional Games for Professional Skills Pre-proposals (Creative Technology) Researchers and partners may apply for grants to finance research into Professional Games for Professional Skills that will raise the level of human capital in the Netherlands. The project design logically involves an actual educational or professional training context applying virtual reality or games. The company or institution that houses this context can be designated as ‘user’ of the project results.
