15 Aug 2014 - 9-10 October 2014: ICT Proposer's Day, Florence, Italy A networking event in Florence, Italy on 9th and 10th October 2014 to promote European ICT Research & Innovation, focusing on the Horizon 2020 Work Programme for 2015. 12 Aug 2014 - Call for Proposals Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative training networks (Horizon 2020) The European Commission Horizon 2020: Excellent Science invites proposals for its H2020-MSCA-ITN-2015 Marie Sklodowska-Curie innovative training networks call. This action aims to raise excellence and structure research and doctoral training, extending the traditional academic research training setting, and equipping researchers with the right combination of research-related and transferable competencies. Applications may be submitted for the following network types: 12 Aug 2014 - STW Demonstrator programme A Call for Proposals for the STW Demonstrator programme has been opened.  12 Aug 2014 - NWO: IPPSI innovative public private partnership in ICT - Knowledge innovation mapping (KIEM) Recently, a Call for Proposals for the NWO programme IPPSI innovative public private partnership in ICT - (1) Technology Area and (2) Knowledge innovation mapping (KIEM) has been opened. Topics are: 18 Jul 2014 - Information on coming European Call for Proposals on Smart Grids Researchers of knowledge institutes, together with at least 1 knowledge institute from another European country may apply for projects within the field of Smart Grids. The Call is not yet open. 18 Jul 2014 - Information meeting STW Take-off Programme On August 26, 2014, an information meeting will be held on the NWO/STW Take-off programme (former STW Valorization Grant). It is meant for potential submissioners (information in Dutch). 11 Jul 2014 - Boost for research into cyber security in Twente The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) has approved five University of Twente research projects in the field of cyber security. The projects, to be carried out at the University's Centre for Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT), will contribute to an increase in security in our digital society, without losing sight of privacy aspects. The sum involved for the UT amounts to approximately €1,5 million. 7 Jul 2014 - Chip architect Bram Nauta named Simon Stevin Master The STW Technology Foundation has awarded Bram Nauta, Professor of Integrated Circuit Design at the University of Twente (UT), the title of Simon Stevin Master 2014. The award carries with it a cash prize of €500,000, to be spent on research. The Simon Stevin Master Prize is the largest prize given for engineering research in the Netherlands, and it is intended for researchers who link excellent scientific work to socially relevant issues. The prize will be presented on 2 October at the STW Annual Congress.
