29 Feb 2016 - Best Paper Award for Lamia Elloumi At the 9th International Conference on Health Informatics/BIOSTEC 2016, held in Rome, Italy, 21-23 February 2016, Lamia Elloumi, Margot Meijerink, Bert-Jan van Beijnum and Hermie Hermens of the TeleMedicine group received the Best Paper Award for their publication: "ICT-mediated Community Coaching to Improve Physical Activity". 26 Feb 2016 - NWO funding for Data-driven research for banking & insurance Currently, a call has been opened for "Data-driven research for banking & insurance". It is part of NWO Exact Sciences. 25 Feb 2016 - New Call for NWO Top-subsidies NWO recently opened a new Call for NWO Top-subsidies for free research within the Exact Sciences. There are 2 compartments: 24 Feb 2016 - FET Proactive funding Opportunities The aim is to mature four novel areas (with a total of 10 related subtopics) by working towards structuring emerging communities and supporting the design and development of transformative research themes. 24 Feb 2016 - Erwin Hans nominated ‘Teacher of the year’ Last year, UT professor Erwin Hans was named best teacher at the University of Twente. This week, the ISO (Dutch National Students’ Association) announced he is also one of five nominees for the national Teacher of the Year award. The ISO organizes the election to draw positive attention to inspiring teachers and the teaching profession.  22 Feb 2016 - Vanessa Evers wins Academic Society Award On March 16th, during the Day of the Engineer, the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI) awards the Academic Society Award to professor Vanessa Evers, Professor of Social Robotics at the University of Twente. Professor Evers wins this award because of the appealing way in which she manages to make the connection between science and society.
22 Feb 2016 - Best paper award for Pieter-Tjerk de Boer (EWI/DACS) and Walter Scheinhardt (EWI/SOR) at Valuetools conference 2015 Pieter-Tjerk de Boer (EWI/DACS) and Walter Scheinhardt (EWI/SOR)  have won the Best paper award for their paper: "Interactive comparison of hypothesis tests for statistical model checking" at the Valuetools Conference 2015, 14-16 December 2015, Berlin. 22 Feb 2016 - DACS Members one of the hackaton winners during the CAIDA BGP Hackathon 2016, in San Diego, USA Ricardo Schmidt, Wouter de Vries and Mattijs Jonker from DACS participated in the CAIDA BGP Hackathon 2016, in San Diego, USA, on the weekend of Feb 6-7. They won the prize with "ANYCAST-1" (please find here some more information). The hackathon had about 90 participants from industry and academia, 50 of those competing in the hackathon challenge. The theme of the hackathon was "live BGP measurements and monitoring", and the challenge participants grouped in 15 teams to explore and implement measurement tools and frameworks.
