January 2007: Research electronic services in the future

The research project asked some prominent personalities on the area of electronic government in the Netherlands for their opinion about the strategic goals and perspectives behind electronic governmental services.

The study shows that these opinions are very different because the respondents have different goals and interpretations. The ideas about the channel management are very different and the respondents name different services which would be a possible trigger. Some of them expect that the contact between government and citizen will grow while others don’t expect any difference. The opinions about the digital abilities of citizens and de gestalt of the electronic services are also very different. Moreover they disagree about who has the responsibility for electronic services. Should it be organized central, decentral or divided?
