🎉 Congratulations to TUGCE ARICAN on completing her PhD! 🎉
We're pleased to announce that Tugce Arican has successfully completed her PhD at the University of Twente! In an era where security and privacy are paramount, finger vein recognition presents significant advantages over traditional biometric methods by being resistant to theft and forgery. However, challenges such as limited labelled data, poor generalisation across datasets, and inadequate quality assessment hinder its widespread adoption. This research introduces novel approaches, including an unsupervised patch-based auto-encoder and a cross-device evaluation framework, to improve the robustness and reliability of finger vein recognition. Additionally, a new quality assessment method is proposed to ensure recognition reliability. The findings contribute to advancing the field of biometric security and its practical applications.
