ALL REQUIRED PRACTICAL INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR enrolment.
The information on this page is aimed at first-year students. This includes prospective students who are going to study at UT.
Student account
The University of Twente will give you a student account. You must check the email for this account regularly, as we communicate all information with you via this account. If you prefer to use your email account, make sure that your UT email is automatically forwarded to your account.
How to get enrolled?
You will be enrolled if you meet the following conditions:
- You are (conditionally) admitted
- Submit certified photocopies as required
- Pay the tuition fee or pre-master's amount
- For non-EEA students, have a valid Dutch residence permit
- Bachelor's applicants must complete mandatory admission activities
- Remember to fill in your Dutch address in Studielink.
Too late?
If your enrolment is not completed on time and in full, this may have the following consequences:
- You will receive your student card and/or proof of enrolment later or not.
- You cannot register for exams and/or exams on time.
- You may run into problems with DUO due to unlawful possession of the public transport card or student grant.
- If you are not enrolled and have used educational or examination facilities at the University of Twente, you owe the University of Twente compensation.
These consequences cannot be reversed, because retroactive enrolment is not possible according to the law.
Intake moments
The University of Twente has limited intake times.
- Registration for the bachelor's degree is only possible as of 1 September
- Registration for the (pre-)master's is possible from 1 September and 1 February
This means for you as a bachelor or (pre-)master student that it is very important to arrange your enrolment and payment on time, otherwise, we will not be able to enrol you.
Address
In Studielink you have to keep your mailing/correspondence address up to date. Your new address will then automatically end up in the University of Twente's student information system Osiris. Also, remember to include your mobile number so that you can be reached by telephone in the event of an emergency.
Tuition fees
Read on the website what your tuition fee rate will be for the 2025-2026 academic year. You can arrange payment of the tuition fees via Studielink. There are several options to pay your tuition fees.
Pre-master's
You pay a fee per EC to follow a pre-master's. The total fee you pay depends on the number of ECs for your pre-master's. You pay the fee in advance for your entire pre-master's programme. Per EC, you pay € 43,35.
Certified copies
A certified copy is a copy with an original stamp and signature to verify that it is a true copy of the original document. The official stamp and signature may be from a notary or an educational institution. Uncertified copies or scans of a diploma and/or list of marks are not legally valid and therefore cannot be accepted.
Student card
For more information, visit our webpage about the student card.
Cancelling your enrolment
Until 31 August, you can withdraw or cancel your enrolment via Studielink without paying the tuition fee. As of 1 September, you can no longer de-enrol or cancel without any tuition fee cost!
Enrolment regulations UT
All rules regarding, among other things, your enrolment, de-enrolment and tuition fees have been further detailed in the University of Twente enrolment regulations.
