UC-Ow Wanted: new student member for the University Education Committee (UC-Ow)

Would you like to contribute critical thinking on educational topics? As a student member of the University Education Committee (UC-Ow), you will have the opportunity to think constructively about education policy in a substantive and strategic manner. The members of the committee are the rector, the education portfolio holders of the faculty boards and two students.

For whom?

The function of the student members of the UC-Ow is to bring the student perspective forward in the discussion of educational themes and to think critically about these on behalf of the student as a stakeholder. Students who have previously been active in a Faculty Council, the University Council or a program committee are encouraged to respond. Your experience in talking about quality of education and your student network will serve you particularly well in student membership. Given the advisory role of the UC-Ow, you may as a student member of the UC-Ow, you may not be a member of a Faculty Council or the University Council at the same time.

Time commitment and compensation

The UC-Ow meets approximately once every three weeks. Meetings are on Tuesday mornings and last two hours. There is no fee for membership in the UC-Ow.

What does it get you?

Membership of the UC-Ow allows you to participate constructively at an early stage in substantive and strategic way about educational policy. You will learn a lot about how the decision-making processes at the UT work and will learn which aspects are weighed in the decision-making process.

About the UC-Ow

The UC-Ow is the "University Education Committeeā€¯. The purpose of this committee is to determine strategy on education, and to advise the Executive Board on this. The committee also aims to promote the alignment of faculty education policy. The members of the committee are the rector in the position of chairman, the education portfolio holders of each faculty board and two students. The meeting is always attended by the Registrar and the secretary (policy advisor education S&P) of the committee.

Procedure for nomination

Potential candidates should nominate themselves to the University Council. The UC selects a candidate and nominates him/her to the Executive Board, which in turn appoints the candidate.
