Pilot: four coffee machines with oatmilk products Try the new Oat of this World-products

From Wednesday 16 march onwards, four coffee machines at UT will serve products made with oat milk instead of cow milk. The change is a two-month pilot to see if there is interest in plant-based milk in coffee machines at our university, organized by the UT together with coffee supplier Maas. Plant-based milk has several advantages over cow milk: for example, it has a lower CO2-footprint and uses less land and water, it’s free of lactose and gluten and of course it’s vegan. All products that normally use cow milk are available with oat milk instead, including chocolate milk.

Where

The four coffee machines can be found in the following locations:

  • Vrijhof – library entrance
  • Technohal – third floor
  • Ravelijn – ground floor
  • Horst tower – ground floor, near the service desk

The machines are clearly recognizable by their Oat of this World-wrapping, so you can’t miss them.

More plant-based products

If the new products prove popular, the pilot can be extended or more machines at UT can be filled with oat milk products in the future. Contract manager Anouk van der Wal, who organizes the pilot together with Maas, is happy: “Serving more plant-based products is in line with our sustainability ambitions. It also fulfills the wish of many students and employees for more vegan options. It’s also great to have this option for people who are lactose intolerant. I’m excited to see how many people will use these machines in the coming months! We’d also like to know if you like the products, so please let us know through filling out our questionnaire.”
