New draft mission, vision and strategy Shaping2030 in final decision-phase

The Executive Board has taken a preliminary decision on the new mission, vision and strategy of the university: Shaping2030, on 4 November. It is the result of intensive co-production by many colleagues. The Executive Board is proud of the result and the method of creation.

We started in January with the inspirational sessions which were attend by a total of nearly 650 UT staff members and students. Some round tables were organized. The Board spoke with several external parties, including secondary school scholars. Through various forums, strategy meetings, advisory panels and think tanks the Board collected ideas for the future of our university. All of the input led to a first draft of the new mission and vision of the UT in May this year.

Before the summer, four strategy working groups started to develop a strategy for the coming three years that will help us realize our vision, focusing on four areas: Open, Sustainable, Personalized and Way of Working.

At the end of September, a writing team led by Mark van Vuuren, have prepared a draft mission, vision and strategy, as a record of all plans submitted by the working groups. That was a complex puzzle to complete. Various colleagues have read along to further improve the document to the current version.

The Executive Board has great admiration for the achievements of the writing team and greatly appreciates everyone’s commitment.

Now it is time for the University Council and the Supervisory Board, who have been properly update during the whole process, to give their final respond for approval. On 11 December the University Council will discuss Shaping2030 with the Board. The Supervisory Board will discuss this at their meeting of December 12.
