There is a lot more to do on campus than attending lectures and doing research! Student activities are organized almost every day, hosted by study and student associations, educational programmes, (research) institutes, Kennispark Twente or the University itself.
Highlights from the last couple of years:
- The Batavierenrace, the world’s largest relay race, from Nijmegen to Enschede with 8,000 students.
- Create Tomorrow, the biggest student collaboration of the Netherlands, where groups of students work on creative solutions for business and governmental cases.
- Concerts and festivals with famous Dutch performers like Anouk, Caro Emerald, Waylon, Candy Dulfer and Tiësto.
The University of Twente has a vibrant student community. There are over 100 associations you can join as an (active) member. At the Student Union’s portal you can find an overview of sports associations, culture associations, study associations, social associations and other associations (foundations such as the Career Days and the Solar Team).
The UT international student associations organize activities, lectures and events for all students. Becoming a member of an international student association often comes with benefits such as reduced ticket prices for events and special offers.
The University of Twente Sports Centre offers sports and sports facilities to students with a Union Card, employees and other customers.
The Student Chaplaincy (Studenten Pastoraat Enschede; SPE) organizes activities related to religion, science and culture.
On the website of the Vrijhof you can find everything about arts and culture at the University of Twente.
