Career support for non-EU students at Faculty BMS

On Wednesday the 15th of May the International Student Support Officer (Ms. Leonie ten Have) of the Faculty Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences (BMS), together with Career Service Students, organized a lunch lecture on the topic: ‘Searching for a Job after Graduation as an International student’. Over the last couple of months it became clear that students have a strong interest in this topic, as many international students have the desire to stay in the Netherlands after graduating from the University of Twente, in order to find a job here.

On behalf of Career Service Students, Ms. Hemo Oumenad first explained what Career Service Students has to offer to international students. Also, she explained how to approach the job search in the Netherlands, and talked about some tips and tricks. This event was aimed specifically at international students from non-EU countries, mainly because these students also need to apply for a special type of residence permit to be able to commence the job search after graduating. Ms. Hemo Oumenad explained the application procedure for this residence permit as well.

We were joined by two recent alumni from the Faculty BMS; one from Brazil and one from Germany. They talked about their own experiences while finding a job in the Netherlands, and offered the students some valuable advice.

This event attracted many (non-EU) international students, and the Faculty BMS and Career Service Students hope that the information provided will aid the students in preparing for their career in the Netherlands.
