our GOAL IS TO TRAIN THE GLOBAL CITIZENS OF TOMORROW. EDUCATION ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH – EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES BOOST PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
Working together and doing business is in our DNA. As one of the most entrepreneurial universities in the Netherlands, we encourage our students to lead an active student life. Students regularly organise exciting activities and events on campus and in the nearby city of Enschede. Being active both in and outside the classroom boosts our students’ personal development. They learn to collaborate with students and professionals from other disciplines and from different backgrounds. These experiences are invaluable in helping students develop useful skills that will serve them well in their future careers.
Multidisciplinary student teams
The University of Twente has dozens of student initiatives. Students can get involved in organising symposiums, tournaments or exchange trips and they can even start their own company. Our multidisciplinary student teams are excellent examples of extracurricular activities that successfully combine a university education and research. Student teams such as Green Team Twente and Solar Boat Twente are well-known initiatives. These teams bring students together to build, for example, a solar car, electric superbike, drone or robot, with which they regularly compete against teams from other universities all over the world.

The students of the Youtube channel Student Report, which is also a student initiative, made a short film about the student teams and their significance for UT.
