Admission requirements | BSc Technical Computer Science

Have you decided to sign up for the Bachelor’s in Technical Computer Science at the University of Twente? Check the admission requirements below to be sure that your application will succeed. Our admission requirements are based on your level of education, level of English and your level of mathematics. Please keep in mind that you also need to take part in the matching procedure before you can start the Bachelor's.

Level of education

International diploma

You are admissible if you have an international secondary school diploma equivalent to the Dutch VWO-degree. Please check your country of origin if your diploma matches these requirements. You can even apply even though you have not completed your degree yet.

Furthermore, your level of English and mathematics need to meet our additional requirements as well, as described below.

German Abitur

Dutch diploma (VWO)

You will be admitted to the bachelor's if you possess a Dutch VWO-diploma with the profile:

Natuur & Techniek
Other profile, as long as it includes 'Wiskunde B'.

Dutch HBO-propedeuse/HBO-degree

If you have successfully completed your first year of studies in a relevant subject at a university of applied sciences (Dutch HBO), you are also welcome to join this programme. We will first check whether your educational background fits well with this study programme. One basic requirement is that you passed your first year of Dutch HBO with an average grade of at least 7.5; another is that you can prove that you have mastered Mathematics B at pre-university level.

Level of English

As the programme is entirely English-taught, you have to meet the English language requirement. You need to upload the required documents as proof of your English language proficiency, before the application deadline. If you hold a Dutch VWO-diploma, then you meet the language proficiency requirements. Check the language requirements here.

Level of Mathematics

To confirm your level of mathematical knowledge, we need a proof that you have mastered mathematics comparable to a pre-university level, such as:

VWO Wiskunde B (for Dutch applicants)
VWO Wiskunde B staatsexamen (for Dutch applicants)
James Boswell Mathematics B course (for Dutch and International students)
Mathematik bis Abitur

The higher your maths grades there, the better are your chances to complete the Technical Computer Science programme successfully. During the application procedure, you need to upload the required documents as proof of your mathematical knowledge.
