With the General Certificate of Education you will probably be admissible to a Bachelor's programme of the University. This depends on the subjects and levels you have achieved. Succesfully completed GCE A2-levels are required before the start of the academic year.
The full GCE A2-level certificates will also be accepted in combination with a diploma other than the GCSE certificates. This depends on the kind of education followed before the GCE A-level programme. The full Cambridge International Pre-University Diploma is equivalent to the Dutch vwo pre-university diploma and will also give access to most Bachelor's programmes of the University of Twente. A combination of Cambridge Pre-U principal subjects and GCE A2-levels is also possible.
Note: the admission office reserves the right to make the final decision regarding the admissibility of your application. The admission requirements mentioned are for your information only.
In all cases please upload copies of your (I)GCSE and GCE (O-, AS-, A-Level) certificates. The University of Twente is aware of the fact that the A2 level certificates will only be issued by mid-August. However, even without the final results you can apply. Please upload your latest results and a document stating which GCE A2-level subjects you are taking or upload your predicted grades.
For enrolment we need certified photocopies, the University of Twente understands that the final A-levels cannot be provided before the deadline. Therefore we will need certified photocopies of the provisional results certificates before the start of the academic year. Please note that we still need certified photocopies of the final certificates, provided to us in the first year of being a student at the University of Twente (deadline 1 May).
If you have English as subject obtained at the (I)GCSE or GCE (O-, AS-, A-Level) with an A, B or C score you are exempted from the English language test. If you cannot meet the English language requirement you have to make an additional test as mentioned on the website.
If you do not have the required subject or the correct level you can do an additional test(s). The University of Twente only accepts certificates from CCVX, James Boswell or the Dutch so called 'Officieel Staatsexamen'. The test must be passed with a 6 or higher and have to be taken before the start of the academic year (1 September).
For the social sciences Bachelor's programmes we require VWO Mathematics A. For the technical Bachelor's programme we require VWO Mathematics B. For the subjects Physics, Chemistry and/or Biology you have to take the VWO Level, there are no sublevels like Mathematics.
For possible admission we require: 3 (I)GCSEs / GCEs (O-Level) with an A,B or C grade AND 3 full GCEs (A2-Level) with an A, B or C grade. The following GCE A-Level subjects are excluded: Extended Project, Physical Education. In addition, the University of Twente will review every application and every GCE A-Level subject individually. This means that the list above may not be complete, you will hear this during your application.
The subject(s) mentioned below is/are compulsory on both (I)GCSEs / GCEs (O-Level) and A2-Level. If a Bachelor's programme has for example two subjects required the other A2-Level is compulsary elective. The University can verify the achieved A-levels of Cambridge, Edexcel/Pearson (and more organisations) whether they are accedited by Ofqual.
please know that you can apply even though you have not yet completed your secondary education
