BUSLeague - Dedicated to stimulate demand for sustainable energy skills in the construction sector

Description project

The overall  aim of BUSLeague is to address and overcome the challenges of the stimulation of demand for energy skilled workforce (demand side), along with hands-on capacity building to increase the number of skilled workforce across the building design, operation and maintenance value chain (supply side). BUSLeague will achieve this objective by developing and implementing a cross European recognition of energy skills, together with upscaling successful training methods and techniques which have already been developed in previous EU and National initiatives such as BUILD UP Skills, Construction Skills. BUSLeague focusses on a blend of four elements: mutual recognition of energy skills, awareness raising, capacity building and legislative changes. Educational research will be conducted on the use and effects of the various implemented methods and techniques to stimulate the sustainable energy skills of the workforce on a larger scale. This research will be based on two main techniques: learning analytics and the experience sampling method.

Expected outcomes

Learning analytics  (analyzing and reporting data of the learners and their contexts) will help us to better understand to what extent and why certain groups of workers are successful in completing certain learning initiatives. It not only gives objective evidence of effects of the various initiatives, but by  comparing outcomes of various initiatives we can better understand differences between success rates of various initiatives for different groups and we will be able to give advice on how to follow up on this to further upscale the sustainable energy skills of the workforce. The experience sampling method will provide insights into triggers that influenced workers to engage in learning initiatives (or drop-out) and how they perceive and continue afterwards.
