Personal information

Uddhipan Thakur is a PhD student in the Mathematics of Computer Science (MACS) group and the Complex Photonic Systems (COPS) group, both at the University of Twente, under the Shell FOM Research Program. His supervisors are Prof. Dr. J. J. W. van der Vegt and  Prof. Dr. Willem L. Vos.

He will be working on the project titled "Understanding the absorption of interfering light for improved solar cell efficiency". The aim is to obtain a breakthrough in the understanding of light propagation through complex nanophotonic media by means of accurate numerical methods. He will work on developing an accurate and efficient discontinuous Galerkin finite-element eigenvalue solver for time-harmonic Maxwell equations.

He received his Master's degree in physics from the University of Bonn and his bachelors degree in physics from Chennai Mathematical Institute.
