- 08.45 - 09.30: Doors open & Registration
The location: Twenthe airport is easy to reach with your own transport. Once you have arrived at the main entrance of the location, you follow the signing with "The TechMed Event". These lead you to the free parking space near the event location: Hangar 10. To reach the entrance of Hangar 10, you have to walk around the building. This is also indicated with signs. Check out the routing here.
You can first register yourself in the building. After that you will receive a badge including your program. There will be coffee and tea on the hospitality square and then you can meet other visitors.

Welcome by Remke Burie Managing director TechMed Centre
The official opening of The TechMed Event will be carried out by the Managing Director of TechMed Centre: Remke Burie. He will welcome everyone and start this inspiring day.
Introduction the Technical Medical Centre by Nico Verdonschot, Scientific Director of TechMed Centre.
After the official opening, Nico Verdonschot, the Scientific Director of TechMed Centre, will introduce the Technical Medical Centre. What does the TechMed Centre stand for? What is the vision and mission of the institute and which research programs and domains does TechMed stimulate? There will also be a specific focus on the Personalized eHealth Technology program, which has now been running for 1 year.
Keynote lecture: Drs. Bas van den Dungen, Director-general Curative Care at Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport
Drs. Bas van den Dungen will present the vision and policy of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport in accordance to the technical medical developments. Which innovations and trends will influence the policy?
Interactive session Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport
After the 20-minute keynote lecture the Drs. Bas van den Dungen will give the floor to the audience. An interesting discussion will be initiated during this interactive session. Do you agree with the vision of the ministry? You will have the opportunity to contribute to the policy.
- 10.50 - 11.20: Break
After the first plenary session there is a 30 minutes break with coffee/thee and a healthy sweet. Perhaps our Innovation Matchmakers could help you finding a new networkpartner? You can find them in front of the big bluebird bus. To start a conversation, you first fill in this form and after that come to the desk. There is enough space (in the bus and in a big white dome) to start the conversation and to create new collaborations.

Keynote lecture: Dr. Peter N. Burns, Professor of Medical Biophysics and Radiology, University of Toronto & Senior Scientist, Sunnybrook Research Institute
During the keynote lecture Dr. Peter N. Burns talks about: Myth and Reality of Translation: A Bubble’s story. Peter Burns works at the University of Toronto and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center Toronto. Read more about the keynote.

Keynote lecture: Dr. Jonne Doorduin, Assistant professor - Technical physician, Radboud university medical center
Dr. Jonne Doorduin, (former student Technical Medicine, University of Twente) will talk about his scientific work on new technologies to diagnose and treat respiratory muscle weakness in patients with neuromuscular disorders, and his clinical work as technical physician in the Radboud university medical center. - 12.35 - 14.00: Lunch break with Innovation Matchmakers & Experience Expo
In the middle of the program, a healthy lunch will be served “on wheels”. During this long break you can catch up with colleagues, relations or contact the Innovation Matchmakers, who can help you with connecting with other visitors. The Innovation Matchmaking desk is situated in hall 1 in front of the big bluebird bus. To start a conversation, you have to fill in this form and after that come to the desk. We will end the program with a session focusing on citizen science. We asked various stakeholders in the Life Sciences and Health domain to share their views how citizens should be involved in technological medical innovations.. Should citizens have an active and prominent role in the development of these innovations? Or not, or is there a middle ground possible? In this interactive session we invite the audience to engage in the debate on this current issue.
Moderator: Dr. Femke Nijboer - University of Twente
Femke Nijboer is an assistant professor in the Biomedical Signals and Systems (BSS) group at the University of Twente (Enschede, the Netherlands). Nijboer currently investigates smart coaching strategies for e-health and telemedicine. Her work is a cross-over of human-computer interaction, neuroengineering, e-health, telemedicine and ethics.
Moderator: Dr. Renske van Wijk - University of Twente
Renske van Wijk works at TechMed Centre and helps building strategic relations with external partners. This has resulted in collaborations like the Pioneers in Health Care Fund, the TURBO program and the TechMed Living Lab. Currently she is in the management team of the East Netherlands’ TOPFIT Impact Programme and is co-project leader of the TOPFIT Citizenlab in Twente.
