Saxion, UT and ROC van Twente join forces on sustainability. For the fourth time, the three educational institutions jointly organise Sustainability Week for their students and staff from 27 November to 1 December 2023. A week full of activities, inspiration sessions and workshops.
With Sustainability Week, ROC van Twente, Saxion and the University of Twente want to inspire students and staff to embrace sustainability. Together, the institutions organise activities through which students and staff gain knowledge about sustainability, discover new topics and devise solutions for complex sustainability challenges.
Activities
Throughout the week, there are sustainable activities at the locations of Saxion, University of Twente and ROC van Twente.
At UT you can participate in various workshops, ranging from learning about plant-based cooking to the transition to a circular economy, and from how to reduce your own carbon footprint to a 'walkshop' on the effect of green infrastructure in cities. A new Sustainability Walk will also be opened on campus, or you can repair your bike together with an expert and visit a thrift market.
Students from ROC van Twente will look into improving the image of food in tins or glass, at the request of Zwanenberg Food Group. After several guest lectures, they will present their ideas to an expert jury on the final day. Furthermore, hospitality students serve a sustainable lunch at restaurant Wijzer in Almelo and fashion students make clothes from waste materials.
At Saxion various departments are joining forces under the motto 'We support your career and well-being in a sustainable way'. Saxion students can register for e.g. a CV or LinkedIn check, participate in workshops and activities around mental health, or take part in the menstruation challenge.
The full programme can be found at www.weekvandeduurzaamheid.nl or www.sustainabilityweek.nl. All UT-specific events can be found at utwente.nl/sustainabilityweek.
