For the second year in a row, our university is participating in the national Bioblitz #Hogeronderwijsbloeit - a joint action by higher educational institutions and universities to identify biodiversity on and around campus. During the previous edition, more than 2,000 different species were collectively recorded, and University of Twente finished in a great second place. This year, we have a new goal!
From 22 May to 22 June 2025, we will make a joint effort to record at least 2,500 species of plants, animals and other organisms. And you can help!

During this period, we will organise a number of biodiversity walks, during the lunch break, where together we will look for everything that grows, blooms, flies and crawls. Armed with a smartphone and the app ObsIdentify (link), we will set off to make observations and take photos.

Extra nice: photo exhibition on campus
Of course, during the Bioblitz, many photos will be taken. These photos can be submitted later this year for a biodiversity exhibition on campus. A unique opportunity to share your observation with others!
Whether you are a seasoned nature lover or just curious, everyone is welcome. Together we will show how rich, surprising and valuable nature is on our campus.
Join us - and show that higher education is also thriving!
