Health services on campus

The University of Twente offers general medical services on campus, including emergency service, a general practitioner, dentist and physiotherapist. Please keep in mind the following general regulations regarding health services in the Netherlands:

Are there any personal circumstances that complicate studying and affect your study progress? Please see our overview of counsellors and how you can get help for dealing with personal circumstances.

  • General health care facilities on campus

The campus has a wide range of health care institutions to offer. Most of them are not directly linked to the university, but they are very experienced in complaints common for students, international knowledge workers, and highly skilled professionals.

  • Campus doctor

Upon arrival at the UT, make sure you register online with the UT campus doctor (use link below). Please be aware that you are required by Dutch law to be registered with a general practitioner (doctor) during your entire stay in the Netherlands if you are staying for more than six months.

The general practitioner is your first contact person for all health-related questions and problems. Medical specialists, hospital tests and prescription drugs are only accessible with a referral from your general practitioner. Specialized medical services include surgeons, eye specialist, ENT doctors, gynecologist and orthopedist.

General medical services are provided by appointment only between 08:00 and 17:00 from Monday to Friday. Appointments can be made online or by phone (Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 17:00).

No payment is required if you are insured through AON (ICS Complete Cover Insurance or Basic Health Care Insurance) or have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
