UTLC has been offering a free editing service to UT employees since 2019: free of charge, we check all non-scientific texts, such as reports, newsletters, announcements, presentations, and press releases, for language and style.
Since 2020, we have awarded an award to those who have sent us the largest number of texts, to thank them for the trust that they placed in us. During the Covid19 pandemic, this was done virtually, but since 2023 we have presented the winners with their awards in person.
The winner for the year 2024 was Sandra Pool (U-Today). She sent in a grand total of 43 texts for editing. For this, she received the magnificent golden UTLC Editing Trophy from the co-ordinator for translations and editing, Kim Middel.
Sandra gratefully accepted the award and expressed her thanks for the prompt replies, help and feedback that she had received from UTLC.
The runner-up was Stef Allum (UTLC), who provided 22 texts and received the silver UTLC Editing Trophy. The two lucky winners can be seen in the pictures attached.
The facts for 2024:
- in 2024, we edited 201 texts, in Dutch, English and German;
- they ranged in length from 35 words to 26700 words;
- they were sent in by 12 faculties and departments, with CES in the lead, followed by GA.
Do you want to win this glorious trophy? Do not hesitate and send us your texts at translations@utwente.nl. From news items to policy reports, from subtitles to job vacancy texts: we will check them, and possibly you will the winner next year!
