If you like to do a combination of courses and work on a research project, this is also an option at our University. On this page, you will find the offer of courses and the application process.
What options are there?
In consultation with your supervisor, you can complete this option in various ways. There are four options: 1. You follow a quartile (15 EC) of courses and the next quartile (15 EC) you work on a research project 2. You follow one semester of courses (30 EC) and the following semester (30 EC) you work on a research project 3. You follow courses for half a year and work on a research project at the same time (30 EC in total) 4. You follow one year of courses and work on a research project at the same time (60 EC in total)
research project
Simultaneously in completing your application for courses, find a supervisor in your preferred research group.
On the websites of the research groups you can find the details of contact persons of that group. Send an email with your request including your CV (curriculum vitae), transcript of records, and motivation letter why you want to opt for a placement and which ideas you want to work on. Please inform the supervisor in advance that you are also planning to follow courses.
When you have received a positive response from the research group, you need to discuss the terms and conditions of your placement. This means you have to agree on: - Content of the research project - Start and end date (see application deadlines). - Amount of ECTS (minimum of 5 ECTS and maximum 60 ECTS; 1 ECTS is 28 hours) - Course code - Max duration of stay is 12 months, including following courses
Note that acceptance by the research group does not automatically mean that you are accepted for a placement at our university. Acceptance also depends on other administrative requirements, e.g. visa and placement period. It is not possible to inform you in advance (before applying) about the outcome of this administrative part of the assessment.
Course Offer for bachelor's students
Bachelor students will either follow one module (regular programme) or minor (electives) per quartile. A module/minor is a package of 15 ECTS consisting of several courses and a project. You need to register for the module/minor as a whole, it's not possible to dropp individual courses within a module/minor, even if you've already completed a course at your home university. It takes one quartile (10 weeks) to finish one module/minor. On this page, you can read about how our educational system is structured.
Per semester, there are three options that you can choose from: (please know that the offer for coming semester might not be available in our course catalogue yet. Then select the current academic year)

You may choose a maximum of one module at another faculty not covered by the exchange agreement with your home university.

A HTHT ('High Tech Human Touch') minor is an elective package outside the regular study programme with multidisciplinary approach. You will work together with students and staff of various disciplines from different faculties.
