Tuition fees Bachelor's programmes

The University of Twente applies two types of student tuition fees. Find out which fee is the right one for you.

Below you find the right tuition fee for your situation. Tuition fees are adjusted annually on the basis of the Dutch Consumer Price Index and an academic year is the annual period of sessions beginning in September and ending in June.

Statutory tuition fee | with EU/EAA nationality

If you are a national of an EU/EEA country, it is likely you need to pay the so-called ‘statutory tuition fee’. This fee is determined and subsidized by the Dutch government. The statutory tuition fee applies to most, but not all EU/EEA countries and/or master’s programmes (also see ‘Institutional tuition fee’).

Statutory fee 2020-2021 for EU/EAA

In the Netherlands, the statutory tuition fees for the academic year 2020-2021 is Euro 2,143 (per year) for all bachelor’s programmes. There is one exception for the programme Technology and Liberal Arts & Sciences (ATLAS).

Halving tuition fee for first-year students

In the first half of 2018 the Dutch government proposed a bill to introduce halving of tuition fee. The proposal has led to reduced rates per academic year 2018/2019 for freshmen Bachelor's students. Check to see if the halving of the tuition fees applies to you, which conditions you should meet and what the tuition fee will be.

Institutional tuition fee | with non-EU nationality

Dutch universities do not receive government funding for non-EU students. Therefore, non-EU students need to pay higher fees. The University of Twente applies the following institutional fees for the academic year 2020-2021:

Euro 9,125 per year for the following study programmes
